CollabORTHO: Elevating Orthopaedic Education for Medical Students Across the UK

Welcome to the CollabORTHO Undergraduate Orthopaedic Teaching Programme, a nationally renowned initiative that began in December 2013. CollabORTHO is a collaborative effort led by orthopaedic consultants and trainees, committed to elevating undergraduate education in Trauma & Orthopaedics.

The inception of CollabORTHO in December 2013 emerged from a personal journey—a journey marked by the recognition of challenges faced as a foundation trainee in orthopaedics due to insufficient undergraduate training. Driven to bridge this gap, I, along with colleagues and friends, founded CollabORTHO. Our vision is to provide unmatched teaching, coaching, and mentoring to medical students throughout the UK.

Our devoted faculty comprises seasoned orthopaedic professionals dedicated to advancing Trauma and orthopaedics education. Since January 2014, CollabORTHO has successfully instructed over 600 students from 15 medical schools. Utilising diverse methods, including lectures, clinical demonstrations, and small group tutorials, we offer an immersive learning experience covering key topics such as history taking, radiograph interpretation, basic fracture management, orthopaedic emergencies, and focused musculoskeletal examinations (hand, shoulder, spine, hip, and knee).

Our objective extends beyond preparing you for final exams; we aim to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to navigate the challenges of managing T&O patients in your future clinical practice. Recognised with multiple awards, our course features an outstanding teaching faculty comprising dedicated and experienced orthopaedic consultants and trainees. With consistently excellent feedback, over 99% of students express their willingness to recommend this course to their colleagues
